Predicting the fashion future is no easy task.
Fashion brands take a risk on what the popular colours and styles are going to be in the next 12 months and then they commit to some conservative stock holding and then hope they have got it right.
Stanley Stella‘s 2018’s predictions seem to be loose fit and pastel tones with 11 new products for adults and 4 new colours.
Two new styles for ladies being the Stella Lazes and Fringes, and 2 two for men being the Stanley Trims and Bears.
Stanleys Stella Lazes
The ‘Lazes’ does just what is says. It hangs loosely and languidly from the female frame with an airy and oversized fit.
Made from a Slub fabric, this loose tee-shirt has dropped shoulder short sleeves, a neck collar in self-fabric with one needle topstitch, bottom sleeves rolled up and fixed with bartack, inside back neck tape in self-fabric, a back yoke with two needle topstitch, a round bottom hem with blind-stitch (back length longer than front length)
100% Organic ring-spun Combed Cotton, 120 gsm which is the lightweight end of the weight spectrum and designed to make it hang more.
The Lazes comes in 4 colours and is a GOTS and Fair wear accredited garment.
The ‘Fringes’ is described as a ‘boxy relaxed fit’.
It is made of 100% combed organic ring spun cotton and is a whopping 200gsm which puts it on the heavy end of the weight spectrum.
It has a short length in the body, a chunky thick ribbed neck and a twin over-lock stitch effect down the side seam.
The arms are a slightly longer length than usual which appears to be the emerging fashion trend, moving away from the shorter capped sleeve that has been popular in the last 5 years.
It comes in two colours, white and candy pink and is suitable for all print methods. Screen-print, digital, embroidery, vinyl and transfer printing.
Fair Wear and GOTS accredited with the usual soft hand feel and high quality finish you will expect from this Belgium brand.
The ‘Bears’ is a mens or unisex T-shirt that is made of a ‘pique’ knit.
This is the type of construction you would find in a standard polo shirt where the surface texture has a visibly larger and more pronounced feel.
The neckline and the arm cuffs have the same thick knit chunky finish. There is a small ‘v’ shaped side vent on the bottom side seam.
Described as a medium fit, this 180 gsm cotton garment is suitable for screen-print and embroidery but be advised that the pique knit will affect the finish of a screen-print as it is a slight rough substrate to start with.
The ‘Trims’ has a unique, wider than usual neck trim we have not seen in a T-shirt before.
At 35mm wide this is at least twice as wide as your standard neck rib. Other than this there are no other unusual features which are notable.
The weight is t 155gsm which is standard for a value weight T-shirt you might get from Anvil or Fruit of the Loom.
It comes in your standard basic colours, white, navy, black, baby blue and heather grey.
The smooth, tight knit weave offers the usual high quality print surface that Stanley Stella products.
Can be screen-printed and digitally printed or embroidered with a medium to low stitch heavy design.
Described as a loose fit Crop hoodie. It has a set-in sleeve drop shoulder and a raw edge cut bottom/hem. The draw cord is the same colour as the garment and it has metal eyelets.

This Raglan sleeve sweat only comes in 2 basic colours, black and heather grey.
It is a lighter weight 260 gsm and the inside feel is not the standard brushed soft feel you normally find inside a sweatshirt.
The outside feel is a Heavy piqué rather than the soft-spun or brushed feel you find on a sweatshirt.
It has a slim 20 mm wide rib at neck collar, a 70mm wide sleeve hem and bottom hem.
