Personalised Polo Shirts

The polo shirt is an incredibly versatile piece of clothing that first appeared in the late 1800s in the birthplace of the sport of Polo, namely Manipur in India. The British polo playing kit at the time featured long sleeved shirts made of thick cotton, really impractical. The players soon began buttoning their collars down, which stopped them flapping around, and the polo was born.

When a wealthy American, John E Brooks, visited India and noticed the curious button-down collars the Brits had created, he took the idea home to his grandfather's firm, Brooks Brothers, and they started making shirts with button-down collars. Now it's the most imitated shirt style in the world, cool and comfortable with the ability to look either perfectly smart or perfectly casual.
